PCLL Information
London U Ext 2:2 students are treated just like a 2:2 student from any other university. There is no preferential treatment anymore. With a 2:2 you may still be able to get in but I doubt they can take all 2:2 students because of the limited space they have.
As for traning contracts, it is almost impossible to get into a city firm with a 2:2 (even most of the 2:1 won't be able to). I'm not trying to sound discouraging but this is the truth. Talk to any friend (real friend) from these firms they'll tell you the same.
You may have a chance with other firms but it all depends on you overall profile. At the end of the day, there won't be enough training contracts for all PCLL graduates.
It all depends on what people get that year. If only a few people get 2:1 PCLL will take more 2:2. I agree with no that there is a fair amount of competition. Sometimes they make things complicated by dividing 2:2 into high (55-59 roughly) and low (51-55 roughly) 2:2. My non-scientific impression is that if you can get a high 2:2 you should be ok. With low 2:2 you still have a chance. You can apply before hand and may get a conditional PCLL offer.
I think even low 2:2 is hard to get. The stats are not encouraging.
You may have to start off with a local firm. But you can always move to a city firm after a couple of years. I know people who have done that. To do that you need connections - socializing, golf and pub. You also need to realize that you may not earn a lot for the initial years.
